A Step to Support Domestic Production through HoReCa: Initiative of Industry Associations
On behalf of the industry associations representing producers of alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, refreshing beverages, and drinking water in the Republic of Kazakhstan — QazSpirits, KazAlcoTabak, the Union of Brewers of Kazakhstan, the League of Winemakers of Kazakhstan, and the Association of Soft Drinks and Juice Producers of the Republic of Kazakhstan — a joint letter has been submitted to the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan with proposals aimed at supporting the development of domestic production.
The appeal proposes considering the introduction of a requirement for public catering establishments (HoReCa) to ensure that menus and wine lists contain at least 30% of domestically produced products in each product category.
This initiative is based on the existing requirements applicable to domestic trade entities regarding the share of locally produced goods on retail shelves.
At present, the industry associations are awaiting the Ministry’s review of the proposal and its official position regarding the next steps for implementing the initiative.
The introduction of this measure would expand market opportunities for Kazakhstani products, support domestic manufacturers, increase the recognition of national brands, and strengthen the country’s economic security.
